Super VideoCD / SVCD:
The SVCD was less widely used in the trading scene than VCD because it’s came later when DVD, DIVX and more advanced formats were already available for a wider audience. It was developed in China as an alternate video disc format to DVD. Quality and resolution is very close to a DVD. It uses MPEG2 video codec and MP2 audio codec. The resolution for PAL (25fps) is 480×576 and 480×480 for NTSC (29.97fps), the aspect ratio is always 4:3.
A SVCD disc can be played on a standalone DVD player.
